The overarching goal of the CHLA Art Guidelines is to ensure every piece of art contributes to the broader values of the organization while maintaining cohesion across all curated layers across architectur, interior design, and commission. Our objective is to express the hopeful spirit, diverse community, and exceptional care at CHLA through art moments that both ground and inspire patients, their families, and hospital staff. Because art is one of the most tangible expressions of these values–through imagery, content, graphic elements, and media–significant consideration should be given to its selection, maintenance, and display as spaces are remediated.
This guide is a resource for selecting, commissioning, and curating artwork that aligns with CHLA’s vision. It offers valuable guidance for future design and internal teams, including maintenance, facilities, donor relations, marketing, and communications. By outlining best practices the guide ensures that artwork is impactful, durable, and aligned with the hospital’s evolving needs.
